About

Once upon a time there were four beautiful women who went to work for themselves, and they were each assigned very hazardous duties: going to events, mingling with C-list celebs, packing lunches and picking up toys. But podcasting took them away from all that, when The Blogging Angels were born.

Unlike their TV namesakes, The Blogging Angels don’t wield knives, know karate, or have perfectly feathered hair, but they do have sharp wits, strong opinions, and the ability to laugh at themselves…and others.

So “hold it right there!” and listen in as each week, the Angels take on social media in all it’s forms: blogging, tweeting, social networks. and how they navigate it all while still being the supermoms they are.  How do we work with brands?  How do you monetize a blog? What’s the best way to leverage your twitter reach?  What’s SEO anyway?  From the simple to the complex, if it has to do with social media, we weigh in on  it.

We want your feedback, your comments, your suggestions on what you’d like to hear about, what you like, and what you don’t.

We’re the Blogging Angels, putting the social in social media.

Angel Rebecca Levey, who looks remarkably like Jacqueline Smith, didn’t need a “Charlie” to take her away from her life as a student, a dancer, an advertising copywriter, an actress, a filmmaker, a fiction writer, a screenwriter and an estate manager for a billionaire family. (And no, she didn’t do all of these things at the same time.)  Currently, Rebecca is a freelance writer and blogger, and a wife and mother to twin girls. She is the Social Media Editor for Mom Blog Magazine. Her personal blog, Beccarama, is where she writes about New York City, politics, parenting, travel, technology, education, the arts, and random stuff that she’s really, really interested in.

Her blog posts have been nationally syndicated through McClatchy/Tribune, appearing in the online versions of The Sacramento Bee, the Miami Herald, and more.

A lifelong New Yorker, Rebecca also writes a weekly column for the Westside Independent, a local New York City newspaper and is a contributor to The Yahoo! Mother Board.

A vegetarian, Rebecca is the kind of person who reads the labels of every single food item she buys.  Which is to say she pays attention to detail. Be forewarned.

Angel Nancy Friedman writes about aging, parenting and her twenty year quest to lose the same ten pounds on her personal site, From Hip to Housewife.

After college in NYC, Nancy moved to Paris where she worked selling sandwiches, teaching English, checking coats, and singing with a Bar Mitzvah Band. Upon her return to NY, she spent nearly 20 years writing promos for TV. Remarkably, her soul is still intact.

As a blogger for NYC Moms Blog, her posts have appeared in the online versions of The Fresno Bee, the Charlotte Observer, The Miami Herald, and more. Nancy has ghost written two books on interior design, and edited another on veganism. She is a contributor to Traveling Mom.com. Her humor essays have appeared in anthologies including The Bigger the Better the Tighter the Sweater, and See Mom Run.

Nancy lives in NYC with her husband and fourth generation New Yorker boy-girl twins.

Angel Amy Oztan’s pre-blogger life included stints as a McDonald’s grill cook, a lifeguard, a campus police dispatcher, a receptionist, a waitress, a concierge, a stage actress, a movie and TV extra, a production assistant and a mad scientist.  After all that, she is thrilled to be a work-at-home mom blogger and consultant.

Amy watches too much TV, laughs at (and makes) inappropriate jokes, and secretly wishes to replace all of her friends’ Veggie Booty with Cheetos.  Amy supports public schools and hates it when people talk in theaters.  Someday she will finally arrange all of her photos into scrapbooks and learn how to knit more than scarves.  When she’s not napping Amy also writes at SelfishMom.com, FilmingInBrooklyn.com, Momtourage.com, and NYCMetroMoms.com. Originally from Buffalo, Amy now lives in Brooklyn with her husband (known affectionately online as “The Ass”) and their two kids, Jake and Fiona.

Angel Heidi Leder was born and raised in Michigan, which means she’s just a teeny bit nicer than the rest of the Angels. Heidi has worked in TV news production, video editing, as a sports newspaper reporter, and enjoyed a successful career in PR, being named one of PR News’s “15 under 30 to Watch,” all before giving birth to her son.

Heidi is a mom blogger on NYMetropolista,  a tech writer at Techilicious, and writes the “Techno Tools for Writers” column for Write On! Online.  She’s also a member of the Yahoo! Mother Board and a PBS Kids Club Thirteen ambassador.  She blogs about her family travel adventures, technology, toys and  charities on her personal site, Coast-to-Coast Mom.

Heidi has lived in Silicon Valley, then Chicago, and finally in the NYC area (’cause she saved the best for last), where she currently lives with her husband and son. She may live in the New York area, but Heidi is a life-long Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.  You gotta problem with that?

Bosley is a dog.  His real name is Bentley.  He keeps the Angels company during all of their podcasts.
