Day 3: trends, Vegas moments, and the future of women at CES

The Angels & More Fab Women Tech Bloggers

UPDATE: Looking for the links from this podcast? Look no further than our Day 3 link round-up.

We’re packing up our blistered feet and heading home. But first, one last podcast from CES, with some more cool products, some trend talk, and some favorite Vegas moments.

Thanks again to our fantastic sponsor, Microsoft Windows, and especially Lisa Worthington.  We had an amazing (and exhausting) time here in Las Vegas, got to see lots of cool new tech products, show off our Windows Phone 7 phones, and meet up with lots of great women, and even a few men. :-)   Microsoft gets honorary Angel wings for supporting women bloggers.

A special thank you also to Blue Microphones for letting us record on their brand-new, not-yet-released Yeti Pro mic.  It’s a powerful omni-directional mic that saved us from lugging four separate mics and a giant mixing board across the country.

It was truly a pleasure to meet you ladies at the women who tech breakfast! It is my opinion that women with knowledge are going to be the bridge by which average end users are finally able to connect with technology in a meaningful way. High tech is for everyone, thank you Blogging Angels for leading the way!

Hey ladies! I’m a little late to the party on this on! But, thanks for the great headlines! Amy I’m with you…I refuse to do anything AT ALL Apple and chose an Android phone for that reason. Although I see the other point too that there are similarities to apple. I also feel the same way about Blackberry…I refuse!
I was so looking forward to the Windows 7 phones and don’t you know Sprint is making that impossible. (adding $10/month surcharge to smartphones on newly activated phones! Another $120 are they kidding?)

Anyway, thanks for the lively commentary. Is CES always in Vegas? Cause that’s not cool! I agree that they would have greater success appealing to women in general with side notes to how women can use tech to improve the daily grind. All mommy’s are women after all!

Even though I was never an Apple person, the iPhone was still very much in the running last year when I needed a new phone. But I’m a google voice user, and when they decided not to allow a google voice app on their phone, I was done with them for good (they’ve since relented, but too late).

I’m a heavy google user, and I’m waiting to see what happens with Windows 7. I love the platform so much that I really want to get a Windows phone when they come to Verizon in the spring, but if gmail and calendar and voice still aren’t very usable, I’m going to have to do some hard thinking. I may have to switch everything to outlook.

Ugh! I don’t want to go back to Outlook if I can help it. I agree..everything is google for me. Still can;t get into Chrome just yet though…but I’m trying it. I just miss all my Firefox extensions.

If the price is prohibitive we may have to revert back to notmal phones…imagine…it’ll feel like regression.
